Chattanooga Causeway Challenge
Sprout Impact won the Chattanooga Causeway Challenge “How can we use creativity to increase civic engagement” with her project Proud Voter; a tech tool and grassroots community engagement project which tackled the problem of Tennessee ranking 50th in voter turnout, and 40th in registration. At the time for the first time, Tennesseans were able to register to vote online. She organized a bipartisan coalition campaign that included 81 groups willing to increase civic participation. She worked with existing organizations and local leaders to organizers to empowering them with tools and voter education platforms to reach their own networks. The challenge goal was to register over 1000 new, local voters. The coalition registered over 8,500 new voters between 2017-2018 statewide in Tennessee.
